Charlotte loves its food trucks (almost) as much as it loves its NASCAR. When the city tightened food truck regulations and took several off the streets, an online petition touting the tagline, "Carne asada is not a crime," gained over 400 signatures. More than 600 people attended a food truck rally protest, where all the vendors sold out of their stock. The Queen City’s vigilance paid off, and now there’s street food for all! Grab dinner from Chow Down Uptown on the last Thursday of the month, a showcase of local food trucks accompanied by live acoustic music, or journey to the historical southend for Food Truck Friday, with favorites like the Wingzaa truck and the Chrome Toaster school bus. Just don’t take this great food for granted - it was a hard-won privilege to eat street food in this town!
