Though not quite as big as New York, this “Mini-Apple” is bringing “Big Apple” flavors to the streets. Food trucks are thriving in the Twin Cities. In fact, hungry Minnesotans love food trucks so much that they will trek through the cold (or the Skywalk) just to get a taste. A local favorite is the Smack Shack. This truck is known for having one of the best Lobster Rolls in the city. They start with chunks of rich lobster meat and lightly toss them in a tarragon aioli, which they then pile generously onto buttery warm Texas Toast. Though the line can get pretty long, patrons seem to agree that it is most certainly worth the wait. Another popular truck is the Hola Arepa food truck, which specializes in cooking up a tasty traditional Latin dish. Incase you’re unfamiliar, Arepas have a consistency similar to a Southern style hush puppy; they’re made from cornmeal, which is cooked on a griddle and then filled with your choice of meats, cheeses and/or veggies. On the Hola Arepa menu, the slow roasted pork seems to be a favorite. To start exploring all the good eats Minneapolis has to offer, take a look at our site map and go get some grub.
