Check out these can’t miss events happening this month that are sure to get you in the springtime mindset.

Abbot Kinney First Fridays

Every first Friday of the month, food trucks line the famous street of Abbot Kinney in Venice, California, known for its eclectic and unique beach culture. With 17 trucks lining up from 5 pm until 11 pm, SoCal residents won’t want to miss this lively event that combines amazing food (Kogi, Cousins Maine Lobster, and Jogasaki Sushi Burritos are some of the past participants) with the laid back atmosphere that only Venice can provide.

Black Light Run

Blacklight Run San Diego (March 5th); Los Angeles/Orange County (March 19th); San Francisco (March 25th)

The Blacklight Run puts a fun and unique spin on your typical 5k race, where participants end the race covered in UV-glowing neon powder and have a live DJ waiting for them at the finish line. Coming to San Diego, the Los Angeles/Orange County area, and San Francisco this month, the Blacklight Run is a can’t miss March event that gets you up and moving at your own pace all while enjoying music, friends, and food. After celebrating your completion of the race, head over to the after party and enjoy some delicious food truck offerings that are sure to help you refuel and re-energize.

SXSW - Hand Helds Sliders

The most unique festival of its kind, South by Southwest is one of the most popular events of the year and especially in March, kicking off March 11th and ending on March 20th. A combination of music, film, and interactive media, the Austin-based event has become the premier destination to discover new musical talent, innovations in technology, and screen some of the best upcoming movies. If you find yourself lucky enough to be in the area during SXSW, make sure you work up an appetite and head over to the TOMS storefront on Congress Ave., where they’ve partnered with Roaming Hunger to have an awesome and delicious food truck available each day of the festival. From 10am – 7pm, hungry festival goers (and the general public) can enjoy dishes from a lineup of trucks that include Taco Baby, Load A Bowl, Texas Chili Queens, Hand Helds, and Emojis Grilled Cheese.

Buku Music Festival

BUKU Music + Arts Project – New Orleans, March 11th & 12th

With a lineup featuring Fetty Wap, Kid Cudi, Future, Pretty Lights, and CHVRCHES, the BUKU Music and Arts Project in New Orleans is the place to be. Located in the Warehouse District and a short walk from the French Quarter, BUKU is equal parts music festival and interactive art experience with helicopter rides, UV mini golf, body painting, and several areas to chill on an area deemed ‘The Front Yard’. BUKU will also have an assortment of food trucks to choose from so be sure to come hungry and ready to dance.

DMVFTA Food Truck Convention

Capital City Food Truck ConventionWashington, DC, March 12 & 13

Held in Washington DC, The Capital City Food Truck Convention brings together chefs, entrepreneurs, and innovators from the industry to connect and develop professionally on March 12th and 13th. Current and aspiring food truck owners, caterers, and mobile food entrepreneurs can attend everything from workshops to a job fair and even participate in a food manager certification course and exam. This convention is an excellent way to discover more about the ever growing food truck industry while networking with other professionals in the field.


Haute Wheels Houston

Haute Wheels Houston – Houston, March 19th & 20th

With 34 of the best chefs in Houston heading out to the Houston Community College Southwest Campus on March 19th and 20th, the Haute Wheels Houston event is a culinary experience that can’t be missed. Foodies who find themselves in the Space City during this weekend will rejoice in the fact that they have the opportunity to taste the likes of Cousins Maine Lobster, Miso Yummy, and Luv Me Tenders (formerly known as award-winning truck H-Town StrEATs) to name a few. Also offering a selection of fine wines and beer, live music, and entertainment for families, Haute Wheels Houston is guaranteed to put a spring in your step.
