LA STREET FOOD FEST ‘SUMMER TASTING’ EVENT BACK AT THE BOWL

The first, the original… LA’s largest and most affordable tasting event is even bigger this year at the Rose Bowl on June 29th

LOS ANGELES, May 15, 2013— Mark your calendars and get out your stretchy pants! LA‘s largest and most affordable tasting event produced by Angelenos for Angelenos returns to the Rose Bowl for its fourth consecutive year on Saturday, June 29th 2013, nearly a month earlier than previous years to take advantage of cooler temps. Imitated by many but equaled by none, the LASFF’s 4th Annual Summer Tasting Event will raise the bar again with an expanded footprint to accommodate even more vendors and sponsors, introducing guests to dozens of legendary street food chefs from all parts of Los Angeles and beyond. Back in the Rose Bowl this year with just 5,000 all-inclusive (pre-sale only) tickets and the option of a VIP early admission ticket, attendees get the best of LA‘s vibrant street food scene plus top chefs and award-winning restaurants in an iconic, idyllic setting.

Attendees will enjoy a curated selection of signature street inspired eats from numerous vendors including the city‘s best gourmet trucks, old school carts and stands, celeb chefs and award-winning restaurants serving from white tented booths and umbrella shaded tables around the Rose Bowl. Attendees can take advantage of the Rose Bowl’s pristine green field to picnic, stretch out and enjoy their eats and treats plus plenty of seating options throughout the venue.

Highlights from the mouth-watering line-up of vendors include LA food truck favorites the Grilled Cheese Truck, Wicked Kitchen, The Lobos Truck and Currywurst; street eats from foodie favorites Bigmista’s BBQ, Short Order, Lazy Ox, El Coralense, Starry Kitchen, and pop-ups The Ceviche Project, Plant Food for People and Vagabond Grillyard. Debuts at this year’s Fest include Fred Eric’s new D’elish at Tiara Café, The Bibigo Truck and downtown LA’s new Baadmash Indian Gastropub. Last year’s People’s Choice winner, Dog Haus, returns along with past Judge’s favorites, local lonchero Mariscos Jalisco and Baja, Mexico’s Javier Plascencia and Mariscos El Mazateño, as well as San Diego’s Aqui es Texcoco.

Event Partner, the Taste of Mexico, will represent with all of their TOM Association restaurants — Frida, Guelaguetza, La Casita Mexicana and La Monarca Bakery — plus more than a dozen others including Corazon y Miel, Loteria Grill, Mexikosher, and James Beard award-winning Yuca’s of Hollywood. Plus, Pablo Moix and Steve Livigni mixing it up, some mariachi and a few other surprises in store.

For the sweet tooth, the popular Ice Cream Social returns even bigger, featuring cult favorites The Donut Snob, Peddler’s Creamery and Dragon’s Whisker Candy alongside Churros Calientes, Float, The Cream’wich, Mwokaji Cakery and Z Confections, along with the debut of Sweet Clementine’s popsicles, and more. Surprise chefs will be announced closer to the event. A complete list of this year’s participants will be posted to the LA Street Food Fest website this week.

The fans have spoken and we listened… this year also marks the return of our live music stage on the Rose Bowl field. Live bands will be announced through the LA Street Food Fest website in the weeks leading up to the event

ABOUT THE LA STREET FOOD FEST

MISSION The LA Street Food Fest came from not only a desire to fill a gap in the local foodie and events scene with a delicious good time, but to create community and a platform to educate and support independent small business owners. For that reason, all of our events aim to do much more than just entertain. We host mandatory meetings for our vendors that cover everything from the basics of food handling to marketing skills, including how to take their businesses to the next level. Charity and promotional tasting events often require vendors to donate their food and services, something we know can be challenging for new and less established vendors, and for that reason, the participation of every vendor at our event is subsidized by us. We pay our vendors an average of $80,000 annually for their participation. For us, every event is an opportunity to do a little good and to help make this amazing city we call home a little better for it. To date, we have not only helped to launch numerous small businesses and help build on the success of others, but have also donated in excess of $35,000 to local charitable causes including St Vincent Meals on Wheels.  We hope that you will join us in enjoying fantastic food and a great time, while also supporting our local community, businesses and economy.
