MERCADITO WHEELS OFFICALLY JOINS SAN DIEGO’S CELEBRATED FOOD TRUCK COMMUNITY

The mobile restaurant concept from Chicago-based Mercadito Hospitality begins cruising the city’s streets, offering creative Mexican food

WHAT:

Mercadito Wheels began its full service lunch and dinner schedule throughout “America’s Finest City” last Friday, January 24th. The new San Diego food truck made its inaugural appearance at Offbeat Brewing Company from 3 – 8 p.m., and a second celebratory stop on Sunday at Thorn Street Brewery from 4 – 8 p.m. You can find up-to-date information on its daily locations available via social media.

A collaboration between acclaimed Mercadito Hospitality and local San Diego restaurateur Pablo Becker, Mercadito Wheels offers a mobile incarnation of the company’s acclaimed Mercadito restaurant, known for its distinct take on tacos at its locations in Chicago, New York, and Miami. Infusing traditional dishes and flavors with modern flourishes, the menu at Mercadito Wheels ranges from twists on tacos to Mexican-inspired takes on other handheld foods, including Tacos de Carnitas, with Michoacán-style braised pork, chile de árbol coleslaw, and toasted peanuts ($3.50 each); Tacos Baja, with beer-battered tilapia, Mexican-style coleslaw, and chipotle aioli ($3.50 each); and the Mercadito BURGER ($8.50), a rib-eye and short-rib burger with jalapeño emulsion, Chihuahua and Oaxaca cheeses, and grilled scallions. Mercadito Wheels also offers an agua frescas menu, designed by the lauded Tippling Bros., with six flavors in rotation including Cucumber Salt, Pineapple Ginger, and Citrus Basil made with lemon, orange, grapefruit, basil, and honey syrup.
