Cinnamon Snail’s Last Days

As hungry foodies or even just average Joes roaming around our various cities looking for the next best meal, we are often completely unaware of the heart, passion and dedication that goes into providing us with out-of-this-world dishes.

It takes a “superhuman-level of devotion” to run a successful food truck. Owners deal with hunting for legal parking, constant truck maintenance, battling with the city over the proper permitting and most importantly ensuring customer satisfaction. Tomorrow, after five years of providing the greater New York City area with, what is said to be the best vegan food, the Cinnamon Snail Food Truck will be completing its last service.

Famous for their seitan, tempeh and tofu sandwiches and burgers and even more so for their freshly baked pastries, in their final days the line for this popular truck has spanned entire blocks with wait times of almost more than an hour…even in the freezing cold temperatures.

Founder, Owner and Chef, Adam Sobel, started the truck after learning to cook for his vegan wife. With a desire to provide vegan food to the masses – despite the normally not so popular choice of food – Sobel learned to make his dishes “…attractive to those who don’t get it and affordable to those who don’t understand its value.”

Though Sobel and his friendly staff have achieved turning non-believers into believers, the battle of food truck life upkeep and the inability to successfully renew the truck’s permit has caused the beloved Cinnamon Snail Truck to come to a close.

We are all sad that the truck will no longer be dishing out the best vegan dishes and pastries on the streets of New York City. Without question, the wonderful team behind Cinnamon Snail touched hundreds of thousands of people over the years through their passion-filled food, who will always hold a piece of hope that the Cinnamon Snail legacy will somehow, someday resurface again.

For now we should all take advantage of the truck’s last days of service, look forward to Sobel’s upcoming “Street Vegan” book release in May and patiently wait to see what the future of Cinnamon Snail holds.
