Social Media Week: Roaming Hunger Talks Bootstrapping

Social Media Week Los Angeles Social Media Week Los Angeles, an annual conference that curates and shares the best ideas, innovations, and insights into how social media and technology are changing business, society, and culture, is taking place next week from June 8th-12th. Ross Resnick, our founder and CEO, will be participating as a speaker at the conference on Tuesday, June 9th from 3:45pm to 4:45pm in Santa Monica, to discuss why he chose to bootstrap Roaming Hunger, rather than accepting funding offers from venture capitalists.

For Ross, going the alternative route – bootstrapping and going at it alone without any funding from outside sources – seemed to be in the best interests of the company. Now, seven years later, Roaming Hunger is a successful organization with over 6,200 food trucks in its network, and is the go-to source for catering events for companies such as Google, Facebook, Nike, Rodel, Apple, and others.

This is the latest speaking opportunity for Ross; he previously attended SxSW in Austin, TX in March to participate on a panel with key entrepreneurs in the food truck industry. The panel discussed the role of the food truck in the evolution of specific food brands, key strategies and mindsets when starting a food truck venture, and further strategies in expanding and scaling into restaurants, grocery stores, or multiple trucks. In the coming weeks, he’ll be a speaker at Silicon Beach Fest.

Ross’s class, entitled “Bootstrapping – Turn It Down For What?” will be at the Bergamot Station Arts Center, Masterclass Room 2525. To learn more about the class, location or how to get tickets, please click here.
