Don Alfredo's is one of the odder birds on the Puerto Rican scene - it offers a lot of flavors but refuses to fuse them - this is Puerto Rican, Mexican and Italian each done masterfully, co-existing without overlapping. You can certainly grab a tripleta, a quesadilla and a pasta and mix them up yourself - but in Don Alfredo's hands, each one is an island and each island is magnificently maintained.
Fresh shredded chicken is stuffed into monstrous bowls & burritos, doused in house-made aioli and slaw, alongside thick-cut pasta with melted parmesan, juicy meat, garlic bread and salad, alongside all manner of Puerto Rican sandwich majesty. All three lanes run side by side, so pick whichever one suits you, and watch as Don Alfredo makes that lane too comforting to leave. It's odd because it shouldn't work, and yet it does. Deliciously.
