Chinese food maybe isn't the first place your mind goes when you think San Juan, but in Dragon Ocho's hands, it'll soon make the top five. Classic Chinese recipes are cooked fresh right in front of you, with fried wonton and lo mein done fervently by the Cantonese cookbook before getting a ginger punch. Likewise, the made-from-scratch passionfruit chicken is a Puerto Rican play on orange chicken, with authenticity going toe to toe with local renovation. In Ocho's hands, both perspectives win (which of course means so do you). Track down Ocho during your next trip to San Juan - it might not be what you came for, but it's one memory you're lucky to leave with.
