Fany originally went to school for art, not realizing one could formally study cooking. Once she saw she could hone her cooking skills in an academic setting, she switched majors. Born and raised in Mexico, she grew up going to the market with her family where she loved sampling all things sweet. As an adult, she decided to bring some treats from her childhood to New York City with La Newyorkina. Now, you can catch Fany popping up at Big Apple events in her food cart handing out Mexican goodies to the masses.
Every item on the menu is homemade in small batches to ensure the freshest possible flavor. Fany is careful to source most of her ingredients from farms in or around New York. If there’s ever an ingredient she can’t get in the US, she imports only from the best possible providers. Suffice to say, the sweet things here are good. Grab an icy sweet treat via a paleta, flavors ranging from mango to cucumber lime to hibiscus. Go for a scoop of velvety Mexican ice cream. Confections connoisseur? There are loads of pastries, cakes, and cookies well worth sampling. This menu is so good, you’ll want to try everything, so head on out to La Newyorkina and get started. Or, better yet, book ‘em for your next event. This’ll make for one epic dessert table that’ll make guests leave thanking you for your pristine taste in caterer.
