Kate Murray born in California, November of 1984, grew up in small town in the Inland Empire called Rancho Cucamonga where she attended grades K-12. Along with being an avid and competitive soccer player, Kate has always been the entrepreneur. She spent many weekends selling ‘made to order’ snow cones in front of her family’s home and quickly started employing neighborhood kids to help out with the work load. Her mother would often come home after work to an impromptu bake sale, art show or even a variety show, all organized by her then 8 year old daughter. Kate’s teenage years didn’t go as well. She fell in and out of depression, developed an eating disorder and became generally unhappy. Kate lost weight, her appetite, ambition, motivation and over all zest for life. Then, a friend talked Kate into trying sushi. In the months to come Kate became a regular sushi eater. She couldn’t believe that something could be so delicious and not make you feel sleepy, heavy or funky… like the Big Mac tends do to. On a trip to LAX from San Diego, Kate saw a random banner in Los Angeles for the ‘California Sushi Academy’. That’s when the wheels started to turn. Kate had the phone number saved in her cell phone for almost a year before she called. Little did she know it would change her life, forever.
