Brent Postlethweight’s grandma Tiva grew up in Hawaii making wontons alongside one of her 13 siblings, Loretta. When she had children of her own, she passed the recipe down, and so on, and today we’re lucky enough to have her family’s culinary tradition alive and well at WontonTiva at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn, NY.
The secret is all in the herbs and spices—think ginger, scallions, pork, and more—used to season these bad boys up. Vegetarian? Breathe easy, Postlethweight is serving up tofu and veggie based wontons, too. Grab a side of either hot soy mustard or sweet pineapple chili for the dipping and enjoy. Enticed? Of course you are. Book WontonTiva to pop up at your next event.
