ERIC SILVERSTEIN, CO-FOUNDER Founder of the peached tortilla, Eric is a veteran of the mobile food truck business. Eric was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, where he fell in love with Japanese food and culture. As a child, he used to wander the streets of Tokyo eating everything from oden at the local 7-Eleven to yakitori from street corner vendors. With Yumé Burger, he seeks to pay homage to the Japanese burger he grew up eating. Whereas the Japanese adopted and re-created the American hamburger, he seeks to now adopt the Japanese hamburger and introduce it to Austin. Throughout the development of Yumé Burger, Eric has found himself reconnecting with the flavor combinations that bring back childhood memories. MARK TAMISO, CO-FOUNDER Mark’s culinary roots run deep, having grown up in an Italian kitchen on the East Coast with strong family traditions centered around the celebration of delicious and innovative food. After a long and successful career in the bakery industry, he owned and operated a four-star bed & breakfast in Napa, California. As a professionally trained chef, food has always been central in Mark’s life. His culinary experiences include cooking mountain lion tenderloins in Colorado, being a guest chef at the exclusive Bohemian Grove in California, to tasting and eating food in almost every state of the United States and twenty countries around the world. “Tasting street food of local cuisines, no matter where in the world they may be, is a reflection of that culture’s spirit,” says Mark. Bringing that same spirit to Austin through his business collaboration with Eric Silverstein, he believes the combination of two different generations and alignment of their respective business knowledge achieves the goal of a creating the redefined burger for today’s adventurous food lover.
