What is the story behind your business' name?
Philly's Italian Water was founded in 2007, inspired by a personal tradition and a passion for bringing a beloved treat to a new community. In 2006, founder Jill & Darrion relocated from Delaware to Charlotte and was surprised to discover that water ice, a staple of spring and summer in the Northeast, was nowhere to be found. In Delaware enjoying water ice and a double slice of pizza after Sunday church was a cherished family tradition. Jill and her son would walk to the end of the block each week to enjoy the refreshing treat, especially in the heat of the season. When that simple pleasure was missing in their new home, the absence was deeply felt. Determined to recreate that experience for her family and others, Patrick & Jill launched Philly’s Italian Water from a humble pushcart. It began as a way to satisfy her family’s craving, but quickly became a mission to share the joy of authentic Philly's Water Ice with the Charlotte community.
