Emily’s coffee journey began at just 15, when she landed her first barista job at a family friend’s café. What started as a simple after-school gig quickly sparked a deeper passion for coffee culture and community. With encouragement from her mom, Emily began dreaming bigger—of one day opening her own shop. She went on to gain hands-on experience at places like Stumptown, Dutch Bros, and Black Rock, falling in love with the rhythm of the barista life, the joy of regular customers, and the connections forged over a simple cup. Years later, as a new mom navigating life post-pandemic, Emily felt called back to her roots. With the support of her mom and aunt, she launched Beans to Phin—a coffee concept that began as a passion project and evolved into a full-fledged business. Starting with community events and cultural celebrations, they quickly discovered their “why”: to create a welcoming space where Vietnamese culture, family, and quality coffee come together. Today, Beans to Phin honors traditional Vietnamese brewing methods while offering a modern gathering place—a “third space” where people of all ages feel connected, seen, and at home.
