Buoy Bowls owner Derek Sharpe fell in love with açaí bowls on a trip to San Diego in 2005, but couldn't find the dish anywhere when he returned home to North Carolina. Over the next few years, açaí shops gradually opened up throughout the area. In 2016, over a decade after his first açaí experience, Sharpe opened his own truck. Dedicated to locally-sourced, organic ingredients, Buoy Bowls has been dishing out cold and tasty açaí treats to the residents of Raleigh-Durham, NC ever since.
