Husband and wife team Lai Sheng Zhang and Natalie Wu came to New York City, NY from China. At first, Zhang worked as a bus driver, but the pair found themselves turning to cooking as a career when Wu took over an existing food cart. While Cheong Fun Cart had been up and running for four years, it gained an unprecedented level of popularity thanks to Wu’s cooking. Once she started serving up traditional Chinese breakfast foods, lines formed down the sidewalk. To see what all the fuss is about, swing by Bowery and Grand Street and sample the fare.
The menu here is small, but it makes up in flavor what it lacks in size. Wu and Zhang stick to simple Chinese breakfast staples, dishes full of delectable sauces, tender meats, and aromatic herbs to make all that flavor pop. To start off your day right with an exemplary example of the most important meal, swing by this cart on your morning commute. Even better? Book Cheong Fun Cart for your next event. Guests will thank you.
