I originally called the business “Talk About Takoyaki” — because people couldn’t stop talking about how good and addicting it was. It was fun and playful, but after two years, a friend mentioned the name was a bit too long. That’s when I decided to rebrand to Hachi — it’s short, cute, Japanese, and perfectly matches the kawaii vibe we’re going for. Since then, Hachi has really stuck — and so has our reputation. Our customers constantly call us “the best takoyaki in town” in their feedback. Some even tell us that after trying ours, their standards for takoyaki are set so high, nothing else compares. That meant so much to me, I started using it as our tagline.

What is the story behind your business' name?
In Japanese, Hachi means eight — a perfect fit, since octopus (the heart of our takoyaki) has eight tentacles. But there’s more to it. When you turn the number 8 sideways, it becomes the symbol for infinity (∞) — a symbol of limitless possibilities, creativity, and connection, which we want to reflect in everything we do at Hachi. As a fun bonus for anime fans, the name also gives a nod to Hatchan (Hachi), the lovable octopus chef from One Piece, who serves takoyaki too. 🐙🔥 So when you eat at Hachi, you're not just getting delicious, freshly cooked food — you're experiencing a little bit of story, culture, and passion in every bite.
