Marcela Restrepo grew up in a small town in Colombia. Her grandmother cooked for the entire village, getting up at 3 o’clock in the morning to prepare. When Marcela immigrated to the United States, she wanted to share the cuisine she grew up enjoying with residents of Natchitoches, LA. She does just that out of her trailer La Casa Del Taco, a must for avid eaters across the city.
The main attraction here is the pastor tacos, featuring richly marinated pork cooked on a vertical spit and shaved into paper-thin slices of meat. Then, these choice cuts are served up on a tortilla alongside a secret blend of Latin American spices that’s packed with a powerfully bold taste. However, if you prefer, you can also go for chicken tacos or even build your own taco or plate of nachos by mixing and matching ingredients. Don’t skimp on the sauces either. Marcela offers both a tangy white crema sauce and a savory, mildly spicy roja salsa. Getting hungry? Then either stop by La Casa Del Taco or book ‘em for your next event. Either way, it’s a sage decision.
Pastor Taco — It’s the specialty, so you pretty much have to sample this mouth-watering masterpiece.
