What's your favorite event that you've catered for?

We have set up at the Buda Trail of Lights for many years with a % of our sales going to Hays HS Project Graduation. I love working with the students and giving back to such a great cause. It is near and dear to me as I'm a teacher at the school and parent to kids who have attended Hays HS.

What is the story behind your business' name?

We bought the kettle corn from a gentleman who was retiring from the business. He had Lone Star Kettle Corn as the name and we loved it so we bought the namesake as well. We also use the name Lone Star Delights when we have events not offering kettle corn. I love the name as it says Texas and when I hear the word delights, I think of fun treats.

Why did you decide to start your business?

Lone Star Kettle Corn is a family owned business from Kyle TX We offer fresh popped kettle corn (salty and sweet) and All Natural Fruit Shaved Ices to serve at any event. This started as a small side business for our family to earn extra income. After a year or so of playing with various ingredients and brands, we found the magic formula that pleased the crowds. Within a couple of years of making an addictive product (nicknamed Kettle Krack by many of our fans). Our calendar stays full with festivals/carnivals and most of our events have a fundraising component that 20-25% of the sales goes back to help charities/non-profits. Making our product even better, we have no preservatives and it is gluten free. Our kettle corn uses a mushroom popcorn, corn oil, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Having this all natural ingredient list makes this a great snack with only approximately 170 calories per 3 cups!!! The Gourmet Fruit Ice we offer is also a great natural snack with fruits that are pureed and whipped in ice. So you basically have a treat that is frozen fruit with a small amount of sugar to stabilize the product into a sorbet like consistency. Mangonada (3 scoops of mango layered with chamoy, chili powder, tamarind straw, and sweet/sour candy straws) and Piccadilly (2 scoops of lime or flavor of your choice, layered with pickle chamoy, sweet chamoy, chili powder, koolaid powder, sweet/sour candy straw, and a large chamoy dill pickle in the middle) also available. Have a winter event? We also offer a hot chocolate bar where you can get plain hot chocolate or loaded with whipped cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and a candy cane!
