About Maayana

Maayana is the latest culinary venture by Chef Meny Vaknin, “Chopped” champion and renowned restaurateur of Marcel and Mishmish. This Montclair, NJ food truck specializes in Mediterranean Soul Bites, paying homage to the Israeli/Jewish Moroccan street food Vaknin grew up with. This food truck offers a small but flavorful menu of freshly made dishes, all kosher and dairy-free. One of the standout features is the use of Frena, a rustic Moroccan bread traditionally baked in outdoor ovens.

Chef Vaknin’s vision for Maayana is to bring the warmth and flavors of his Israeli upbringing to the streets of Montclair. Each dish is crafted with care, echoing the comfort and aroma of a home-cooked meal. Signature items include marinated grilled chicken shawarma with hummus, pickles, marinated cabbage, and sumac tomatoes, and Herbed Falafel, a vegan delight topped with tahini sauce and salsa.
