What is the story behind your business' name?

Marco's began as a food cart in Iowa City's famed "Ped Mall" right after graduating from The University of Iowa by Mark Paterno on May 5th, 2000. 25 years later, Marco's is still serving the same late night snacks, but is also a brick & mortar restaurant in Iowa City's North Side. Our cart is perfect for wedding snacks, grad parties, company events, family parties / festivals etc. Our food is made to order, so it's always fresh! We can feed large numbers of people quickly.

Since 2000, Marco's Grilled Cheese has been serving up one of Iowa City's favorite comfort foods. What started as a late-night food cart in the iconic Ped Mall has grown into a local institution, known for made-to-order grilled cheese sandwiches, loaded quesadillas, and fast, friendly service. Founded by University of Iowa graduate Mark Paterno, Marco's has spent more than two decades satisfying hungry customers with simple ingredients, fresh preparation, and unforgettable flavor.
