What is the story behind your business' name?

Our names are Jared and Ryan, and together that makes RJ—so we decided to name our business RJS Roadhouse Food Truck. The name reflects not just our personal connection, but also our passion for bringing fresh, made-to-order food from a mobile kitchen to events across Toronto, Vaughan, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). At RJS Roadhouse, we specialize in food truck catering for corporate events, private parties, festivals, and Toronto events. Every meal we serve is crafted with care, combining our family’s decades of culinary experience with the fun and convenience of a mobile food truck in the GTA. Where did you learn to cook?

We learned to cook from both our parents, growing up in a family deeply rooted in the hospitality and food industry. My business partner Ryan and I spent countless hours cooking with his dad, Mike Silver, a legendary figure in the Toronto catering and food service world. Mike Silver has been serving top-quality food for over 50 years at major venues and events including the Scotiabank Arena, Enercare Centre, Rogers Centre, the Royal, Toronto Maple Leafs games, Toronto Raptors games, the CNE, the One of a Kind Show, and so many more. Before that, we learned the craft hands-on at Shopsy’s Deli, helping run booths and catering events at Toronto festivals and private parties. Working with our mentor in his Pickle Deli event booths and other catering setups gave us a deep understanding of high-volume cooking, food truck operations, and mobile catering services. All this experience laid the foundation for RJS Roadhouse Food Truck, where we bring Toronto and GTA event catering, corporate catering, and festival food truck services to life. Our hands-on training and decades of family experience ensure that every burger, sandwich, and comfort food item is made fresh, cooked perfectly, and served with care for private parties, corporate events, and major Toronto events.

Thanks to his guidance and support, we launched our Toronto food truck and now provide catering services for corporate events, festivals, private parties, and major Toronto events like Caribana, Rogers Place Concerts, Honda Indy, Veld Music Festival, the CNE, amongst others.
