Born in 2019, Sazón de Panama is the culmination of a dream for owners, Tye and Lajae Jacobs. Their vision is to create inventive dishes based around Caribbean influences for the people of Indianapolis. Tye Jacobs, the chef behind the food, grew up learning to cook in Flatbush, New York, where diverse influences are rich to choose from. Inspired by the food around her, as well as her upbringing, Sazón de Panama has adopted multiple elements from the Caribbean to add to their dishes, such as herbs from Panama, spices from Jamaica, and sauces from Trinidad. Invoking eclectic food styles from traditional Hispanic cuisines as well, Sazón de Panama offers meals like arroz con pollo and empanadas made with oxtail or jerk chicken. Both Tye and Lajae bring creativity, flavor, and a focus on connecting people through their authentic takes on Central American cuisine, so book the first Panamanian restaurant and truck in Midwest Indiana, today.
