Founder Kyle Billig has a lifelong love of all things ice cream. Ever since early childhood, he wanted to sample any and all types of this sweet treat. One day, while casually browsing the internet, he stumbled across a video of a Thai street vendor whipping up a batch of rolled ice cream. Kyle was immediately impressed and decided to bring that ingenious spin on ice cream to Philadelphia, PA. With that, Sweet Charlie’s was born. Rolled ice, if you’re unfamiliar, is made by pouring a liquid base onto a freezing sheet with temperatures so low the base solidifies in a matter of minutes. This thin slab of ice cream is then rolled up into a tight coil and sprinkled with delicious toppings. At Sweet Charlie’s, you have quite the array of flavors to sample, the menu sporting options like strawberry cheesecake, Nutella banana, and acai honey.
