Meet Sarah Senensieb

What is the story behind your business' name?

Sweet Cute is a play on the classic "Meet Cute" stories in romantic comedies. Because I want our community to "fall back in love" with ice cream! In a community where there are so many ice cream options with crazy flavors, at Sweet Cute we want to remind you of the quality comforting ice cream your grandma used to make. No crazy flavors, no artificial stabilizers, just quality custard based ice cream made with a whole lot of love! Meet your perfect scoop at Sweet Cute!

Where did you learn to cook?

I've been making ice cream as a hobby for over 10 years. It all started with a counter top Cuisinart ice cream maker I bought with a gift card to William Sonoma for Christmas. I've been ice cream obsessed ever since I was out of the womb, and so after I graduated college, I decided to learn how to make it myself. And I uncovered some of the best ice cream I had ever had. I started to research new techniques and flavors and really hone my craft. It provided me with some of the happiest experiences of my life. And I really want to bring that same happiness to the Southern CA community!

Why did you decide to start your business?

I used to work in entertainment (like everyone else in Los Angeles...) and did that for 7 years. I loved it but the industry changed quite a bit over time and I started to see aspects of it that didn't align with who I was. I yearned for a career where I could be happy with what I did for a living and proud of a product that I could bring to other people. What's better than brightening people's day with a scoop of comforting ice cream? So I took the risk and quit my full time job in entertainment and am putting all of my passion, creativity and drive into my own small batch ice cream business.

Who encouraged you the most to start your own business?

My amazing and supportive husband. He has been the #1 ice cream taste tester for the last 10 years and when he saw how unhappy I was in my previous career he didn't even blink at the idea of my starting my own ice cream business. He is the book keeper and operations manager of Sweet Cute. It's just the two of us running this entire business and I couldn't do it without him!
