What is the story behind your business' name?

I chose the name Sweetly Made because I wanted something broad enough to include all types of desserts while still feeling warm and personal. The name reflects not only the variety of sweet treats I offer, but also the care and creativity that goes into making each one. Whether it's classic cotton candy or a new dessert I'm experimenting with, everything is "sweetly made" with intention, flavor, and a little bit of fun. It felt like the perfect fit for a business built on passion and playfulness.

Where did you learn to cook?

I actually taught myself how to make cotton candy, and from there, my love for creating delicious treats just took off. I started experimenting with different recipes, constantly trying to push my boundaries and learn new techniques. It was a mix of trial and error, along with a lot of research, that really helped me grow my skills. Over time, I expanded from cotton candy to other dishes, and that sense of discovery and excitement is what still drives me every day in the kitchen.

Why did you decide to start your business?

I decided to start my business during college because I was struggling to find a job that fit with my unpredictable schedule. Balancing schoolwork with job commitments wasn’t easy, so I started looking for ways to create my own opportunities. After experimenting with a few events and food pop-ups, I realized I loved the freedom and excitement of running my own business. What began as a solution to a problem quickly turned into a passion. The thrill of creating something from scratch, making people smile with great food, and building a business around my vision kept me going. Since then, I've been dedicated to growing and improving, and it's become more than just a job—it's my dream.

Who encouraged you the most to start your own business?

My mom has been my biggest mentor and source of inspiration. She’s owned several of her own businesses, so I grew up watching her navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship with determination and creativity. Seeing her build something from the ground up gave me the confidence to believe I could do it too. She's always encouraged me to follow my passions, trust my instincts, and not be afraid of taking risks. Her support and example played a huge role in helping me take that first step toward starting Sweetly Made.

What's your favorite event that you've catered for?

My favorite event is the Sequim Logging Show every May. It has such a fun, energetic atmosphere, and it’s the perfect way to kick off the food truck season. I love being surrounded by other creative food vendors and seeing the community come together to enjoy good food and good company. Events like this remind me why I started Sweetly Made—they're full of energy, creativity, and great people.
