Steve Bernstein first discovered the Mediterranean dish that is the falafel while attending college in Rhode Island. A bit of a picky eater when he first began matriculating, he resisted indulging for the better part of his freshman year. However, locals kept raving about the cuisine, so he eventually gave it a try. It was love at first bite, and Steve knew he had to bring this dish to residents of Philadelphia, PA. After graduation, he spent seven years working a corporate job, saving money to open up his very own food truck. Now, Steve and his team roll around the City of Brotherly Love in The Happy Pita whipping up falafels and beyond.
The pita is the perfect vessel for any number of stuffings and its portable nature makes it well-suited to eat on the go. Pitas here come, of course, stuffed with warm, chewy homemade falafel, but there are loads of other options as well. Pita bread stuffed with a sweet-and-savory mix of grilled chicken and strawberries drizzled with Greek yogurt-poppy seed dressing? Yes, please. In addition to traditional pita wraps, try ‘em served up quesadilla style. And for dessert? Have a deep-fried pita stuffed with Nutella, bananas, and strawberries all dusted with powdered sugar. Sound delicious? Of course it does, so head on out to The Happy Pita the next time you’re on the hunt for some quality street food. Or, bring ‘em straight to you by booking ‘em for your next event.
The Friendly Falafel — A hearty pita wrap stuffed with falafel, tomatoes, onions, pickles, banana peppers, feta, and hummus all drizzled in a bold mix of hot sauce and tzatziki.
