Meet Gili Vaknin
What is the story behind your business' name?

Toast was founded in the Fall of 2013 by an entrepreneurial couple, Gili and Molly. The name Toast was originally inspired by Gili’s native language of Hebrew. Toast translates to panini, which is a popular restaurant concept in Israel, focusing on special homemade sauces to enhance the flavor of the paninis. We took the opportunity to open a cart with a cultural meaning, delicious food and unique flavors–bringing more diversity to Madison’s food carts. Our Mission is to provide you with the absolute best combination of delicious, fresh ingredients and homemade sauces in a hot, pressed panini. We pride ourselves on delivering a unique food cart experience and amazing food for undeniable satisfaction! We’ve had an award winning streak taking home multiple 1st & 2nd place ribbons at the Taste of Madison each year. “BEST OF THE TASTE OF MADISON 2016 WINNER!” Second place for “BEST FOOD CART” in Madison Magazine’s 2017 “Best of Madison” Issue As featured on Madison CW’s “The Restaurant Show!”

At Toast, you get the chance to sample award winning paninis from a chef who's passionate about one thing: paninis. Gili's his name, and paninis are his game. He's leveled the playing field with homemade sauces and ingredients that are prepared fresh daily, making each sandwich a perfectly toasted, cheesy, savory work of art. Together with his wife Molly, they've taken home so many first place ribbons for their paninis, committed to great customer service with a smile.
