What is the story behind your business' name?

Unc's Wings & Things started with two simple things Keith loves—great food and bringing people together. When he was thinking of a name, he knew wings would be the star of the menu. Everywhere he went, younger people always called him "Unc," and before long, the nickname just stuck. That's how Unc's Wings & Things was born. Keith has always loved cooking just as much as he loves eating, and that passion shows in every meal we serve. From our handpicked wing flavors to our homemade sides, our goal is simple: serve food that feels like family and keeps people coming back for more.

Where did you learn to cook?

A Passion Passed Down Through Family Although Keith was raised in New York, every summer he looked forward to visiting his grandmother, Rose, in the heart of North Carolina. Those summers helped shape his love for food and family. His grandmother Rose and his uncles were incredible cooks who believed that the best memories were made around the dinner table. Watching them prepare meals from scratch inspired Keith at an early age. His mom also encouraged him to learn how to cook, always reminding him that if he could cook, he would always be able to enjoy a great meal. Those lessons became more than family traditions—they became the foundation of Unc's Wings & Things. Today, every wing, burger, side, and catered meal is prepared with the same love, hospitality, and bold Southern flavor that Keith experienced growing up between New York and North Carolina.

Why did you decide to start your business?

I've always been a true foodie at heart. I love discovering great food, creating bold flavors, and seeing the joy a great meal brings to people. At some point, I realized that if I built a business around my passion for cooking, I'd never feel like I was working another day in my life. That's how Unc's Wings & Things came to be. What started as a love for food became a way to serve my community, bring people together, and create memorable experiences around the table. Whether we're serving from our food truck or catering a special event, every meal is made with the same passion that inspired me to start this journey.

Who encouraged you the most to start your own business?

After spending years building a successful career in engineering and Information Technology, Keith felt it was time for a new chapter. While he enjoyed his career, his true passion had always been food, cooking, and bringing people together around a great meal. Rather than seeing it as starting over, he saw it as pursuing the work he was truly meant to do. He knew that if he could build a business around something he genuinely loved, he would never feel like he was working another day in his life. That's how Unc's Wings & Things was born—a family-owned business built on passion, hospitality, and the belief that great food creates unforgettable moments. Today, whether we're serving from our food truck or catering weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, and family celebrations, our mission is simple: serve every guest like family.

What's your favorite event that you've catered for?

It's hard to choose just one. Whether we're catering a bridal shower, serving a neighborhood gathering, or feeding a corporate team, every event is special to us. Seeing people enjoy what we bring to the table means the world to me. Sharing great food, creating memorable experiences, and bringing people together is why we do what we do.
