Meet Chris Reed
What is the story behind your business' name?

Inspired by his Dutch-Indonesian mother and his Louisiana-born father, chef Chris Reed established Bumbu Roux to share both classic and innovative Indonesian and Creole cuisine. The words in our name represent the foundations of each classic dishes in each of these cuisines: "bumbu" is a blend of spices in Indonesian cuisine, and "roux" is the mixture of flour and fat at the base of Creole gumbo and many other sauces.

Welcome to Bumbu Roux, the Chicago food truck that's as tasty as it is fun to say. How does such a name come to be? In 2008, chef Chris Reed decided to fuse the flavors of his mother's youth in Indonesia with some of his father's Cajun/Creole pizzazz, and now Bumbu Roux is on a roll like bontemps, sporting flavors of a truly unforgettable sort.

Bumbu Roux keeps it simple and delicious with Cajun classics like Creole gumbo and red beans & rice, while mixing it up with their hot handhelds, from the Beef Debris Po'Boy to the Indo Pulled Pork Sandwich.
