Yes, Schnitzy's is registered for catering and/or vending events on Roaming Hunger. In terms of availability, we don't manage their calendar. The best way to find out if they're available is to fill out your event information and see if they respond.

Is Schnitzy's available in my city?

Schnitzy's has a home base in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Keep in mind that for catering, they may add a travel fee if it's outside of their normal travel radius.

What is the story behind your business' name?

While going thru old photos and boxes of my late grandparents, I discovered my German great-grandmother owned an all-woman lunch counter and served sandwiches, sweets, and coffee. she would have a weekly schnitzel special and somehow got the nickname "Miss Schnitzy". She sold her business to get married to be a mom and housewife. I vaguely remember hearing about a lunch counter business but I was a kid and no one really told me in detail. I felt destined to honor my great-grandmother's legacy.

Where did you learn to cook?

Mostly from my Mexican grandmother on my Mom's side of the family. She cooked by taste and visually. No measuring! Cook with your eyes, heart, and instinct. Her sister was Ninfa Laurenzo of the famous Ninfa's Mexican Restaurants originating in Houston.

Why did you decide to start your business?

I was a major league sports entertainment announcer and when Covid shut down fans attending games, I told my wife instead of competing with others scrambling for a job, we should be in charge of our own fate. My wife's family owned steakhouses and Sizzler's years ago and by combining all of our experience and skills, we could create sometihng unique, fun, and delicious.

Who encouraged you the most to start your own business?

My late father-in-law Carl. My wife was against it at first swearing to never get back into the restaurant business but I convinced her. Carl gave me his secrets and advice to be successful.

What's your favorite event that you've catered for?

My friend's 65th birthday party at his lavish home. It was our first big gig and it was so special to see everyone try something they had never eaten before in Texas...and love it.
