You may have seen us at various farmer's markets or other events. We serve beef, chicken, and chorizo tacos on a soft, white corn tortilla. We like to finish our tacos with shredded lettuce, pico da gallo, sour cream, and jalapenos. Combine that with our own selection of more than 6 different hot sauces and you're all set. We also bring nachos that we can load up like we do our tacos.

Meet Kev Man

What is the story behind your business' name?

We started as a garden full of hot peppers to make hot sauces and it took off from there.

Where did you learn to cook?

I was always fascinated with how things are made. Food was one of the first things i had access to for experimentation. My mother was so afraid of me going near fire of any kind, i was banned from using the stove most of the time, which did nothing but fuel my desire to cook. Twenty years later, i had worked in every kind of kitchen from fast food to catering to fine dining in every position from dishwasher to server to manager to trainer. EVERYTHING.

Why did you decide to start your business?

I began to make hot sauces from peppers out of my garden and gave them out as holiday gifts. "Shut up and take my money," was a true story and i spent the next year getting certified and registered. After 21 years, my job decided that i wasn't doing a good enough job so i got the boot and and went full time with this. I haven't worked a day since then. This is what i get to do for a living now.

We're not sure what's going into your garden this year, but we know one place in Pittsburgh cultivating a bumper crop of HEAT. Scorch Garden got its start in 2017, crafting hot sauce from locally grown peppers, ranging in heat from beginner and to just below weapons grade. Now they're popping up across Pittsburgh serving up tacos that nachos with sauces that perfectly balance the heat with flavor.
