What is the story behind your business' name?

Wafu, a Japanese-inspired desert shop, specializing in taiyaki and soft serve ice cream. We offer traditional, fish-shaped waffles with various sweet or savory fillings and a weekly rotation of unique soft serve flavors. Our passion for Japanese street food and culture led us to establish Wafu. Originally starting as a food stand at a local farmers market as a side hustle in Lakeland, FL in 2020, we quickly grew and upgraded to a food truck. We soon expanded and made our mark on central Florida and were fortunate enough to open a brick-and-mortar store at East End Market in 2022. Whether you’re an anime lover, a foodie, or you’re simply curious about Japanese street food and culture, we’d love to have you check out our shop.
